Hey there, Tink here

Hey there, Tink here

Post by tinkerbell on Thu Nov 05, 2015 5:33 pm

Hello there, folks.

I'm Tinkerbell, but feel free to call me either Tink, or anything else that comes to mind, for short.

I've been roleplaying for about seven years now, off-and-on.

My older sister actually introduced me to the Warriors series, many years ago, and I've been sucked in ever since. As a young kid, I didn't dislike reading, but unless I was particularly invested in a book, I usually didn't have the attention span to follow through and spend much time with it. Especially if it was in a novel format, as at the time I was much more interested in non-fiction books which I could generally get through quickly, and absorb the information before moving onto the next one. But there were a couple of series that changed that for me, and Warriors was one of them.

There was something intriguing about the thought of feral cats creating their own societies, and living in a world all their own, right under the noses of humans. I also read a lot of other books with similar premises: Silverwing, Redwall, Fire Bringer, Black Beauty, The Good Dog, The Call of the Wild, White Fang, Bunnicula, and so on. I've branched out more nowadays, but needless to say it became a big part of my childhood. Even though I now feel that the Erins' writing has fallen flat on many occasions, the premise of the Warriors universe is enough to keep me hooked into roleplaying out my own stories.

Speaking of integral parts of my childhood, I might as well mention that I also enjoy Pokemon, as that's bound to come up with how often I talk about it. My first main series game was Gold version, and so I consider Johto to be my home region, as cheesy as that may sound. And so began my lifelong addiction to capturing and raising the 'mons. Aside from the games, I've read some of the Pokemon Special/Adventures manga, and I like to collect the cards as well. I've tried playing the actual TCG game a few times, but mostly I just like to hang onto them for the pretty art.

Some other games I've played are Okami, Zoo Tycoon 2, Kingdom Hearts, Animal Crossing, Endless Ocean, Super Smash Bros., Resident Evil, and Grand Theft Auto V. Some TV series past and present that I've enjoyed are Zoids, Wolf's Rain, Digimon, Hey Arnold, Rugrats, The Wild Thornberrys, Scooby-Doo, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Steven Universe, The Walking Dead, and Ghost Adventures.

As for my hobbies, I do a lot of digital photography. My pictures are usually of plants or animals, which means I spend my day stalking the local wildlife. Besides that, sometimes there's the occasional landscape thrown in, and another thing I like to experiment with is macro photography. It's kind of amazing how interesting things can look up close. Photoshop is my go-to program for cleaning up my pictures, and I also use it to make graphics, such as the avatar I'm using at the moment. I used to draw a lot as well, although not so much anymore, due in part to a lack of time and also to a lack of confidence in my abilities. But, I'm hoping to get back into it soon, and perhaps roleplay will be good inspiration for things to draw.

But anyway, this is getting long-winded, so I'll leave it at that for now.

See ya around!
