Sanctuary 038 Observations Room

Sanctuary 038 Observations Room is an exact replica of the one found in the other two Sanctuaries, mainly built that way to make sure the outcomes wouldn't be compromised by different settings. Patients are brought into this room every other day, either one by one or in a group, and given various triggers to their illnesses and powers. Scientists sit on the other side of the glass that seems like a mirror from the patients' side and take notes for about an hour on their behaviors. Screens line the walls to project holograms of each patient's x-ray as well as a list of their known powers and limitations.

Cheyenne tucked her hair behind her ears, typing up notes from the last pair of patients that had been brought into the Observations Room. As none of the scientists who were even slightly competent were available, she'd taken it upon herself to do the testing for now. "Can the next two come in?" she asked, finishing typing up the notes and leaning so she was hovering over the microphone that meant she'd be heard from the other room.

Lyra looked over at Emilia, raising her eyebrows slightly. "Is it our turn?" she asked, leaning back and rolling her eyes

Emilia was sitting with her legs spread out, leaning back and hanging her head upside down to watch a small spider crawl across the floor. At the sound of a voice through the microphone, she sighed dramatically and dragged herself to her feet. "I would guess so," she responded, taking Lyra's hand and squeezing it as moral support for her friend and for herself. She led them into the observations room and looked back to Lyra in shock at the sight of Cheyenne, their president, on the other side of the mirror.

Lyra looked back at Emilia, noticing her expression was the same, then turned to Cheyenne. The president. Who was doing testing. Cool, cool.

"Berenice and Lewis, correct?" Cheyenne asked, not looking up nor waiting for an answer before continuing, instead flicking the page of her notebook. "Don't be scared. Or do, not my problem. This is just a quick test of your powers. Their range, strength, amount before you can't do more, et cetera." She looked up at this point, making a quick movement with her wrist. "Elements first. I don't particularly care who goes first. Be quick about it."

Emilia squeezed Lyra's hand once more before stepping forward and offering a cool smile. "Emilia Berenice," she stated, rubbing her hands together to warm them. "Thermokinesis has many aspects to it. I can manipulate the temperature surrounding me." she explained nonchalantly, even though Cheyenne probably already had many notes on her. She closed her eyes, letting the heat enter her body until it overwhelmed her senses. When she opened her eyes, a red fire-like gas was swirling in the palms of her hands. She looked up to a target on the wall with a sly grin and shot the fire at it, red reflecting against her eyes as she watched the target melt from the heat.

Lyra watched Emilia use her abilities, unable to resist a little smile at the feel of the heat. She wasn't a pyromaniac, but the dragon in her liked it. Certainly liked it more than the feeling of being watched, but that wasn't a high bar.

Cheyenne nodded, watching the gas. She noted down the effect on the target, then went into the camera feed to access the video of producing the gas. She copied the image of the gas, pasting it inside a folder on her computer before looking back up. "Great. And Lewis?"

Lyra glanced over at Emilia once she knew it was her turn, rolling her shoulders. She looked at the target next to the one which had just been melted, and thought for a moment. Spice it up a bit. Fuck the government. "Lyra Lewis. Pyrokinesis. Which is fire," she explained, unable to stop a little bit of a patronising tone slip out. She stood a little closer to the target, acting like she was about to throw a fireball at the target, before her head snapped to the side and she exhaled sharply, breath turning to flames.

Emilia stepped to the side opposite of the melting target, straining her eyes to try and see through the one way mirror where Cheyenne was recording them. When Lyra spoke, she grinned, but when she unexpectedly started breathing fire, she couldn't resist bursting into laughter. "This is why you're my best friend." she laughed, turning to stick out her tongue at Cheyenne.

Cheyenne flinched back at the sudden wave of fire, inhaling. She shoved the wave of anger down, quickly pressing the button to turn the window back into a mirror and then the button to turn the mic off. She thought for a moment, leaning back in her chair, then picked up her phone. "Security for observation room zero-one-four. Take them to the limitations room," she ordered, waiting for a reply before hanging up and calling somebody else. "Schedule the new shots. Yes. Thank you," she told the other person, putting the phone down again and waiting.

Lyra turned to give her friend a curtsy, running her tongue along her teeth. Which may or may not have been slightly forked. She blinked, eyes changing to a snake-like yellow, and blinked again, eyes changing back. "Friends support each other, especially against those wankers," she answered, a few sparks falling from the corners of her mouth.

Emilia tilted her head back in a laugh. "You've got a little something," she pointed to the sparks in the corners of Lyra's mouth, honestly still surprised at how crazy her powers were. "You're kind of scary, not going to lie." she giggled, watching her eyes change colors rapidly and in turn widening her own eyes.

Lyra laughed, scratching at the back of her neck and wiping at the sparks. "Sorry. Don't mean to be," she apologised, wiping at them a few more times after. "Happens sometimes." She was cut off a little by the sounds of something down the corridor, and she frowned, looking over to Emilia. "You hear that?" she asked, moving her hands so they were resting on her hips.

Emilia rolled her shoulders back, fixing her posture and pressing her lips together in a straight line. She turned her attention to the door where they had come from just a few minutes ago. "Yeah, what the hell?" she scoffed, stepping closer to the door and raising her eyebrows as the footsteps grew louder and louder. But suddenly, another sound accompanied the footsteps, and Emilia couldn't help but step back slowly. "I heard something else," she said, stopping herself to take a breathe before she let Lyra hear her shaky voice. "It sounded like... the cock of a gun?" she ended her statement like a question, because she really wasn't sure what it was that she had heard.

Lyra hesitated, own eyes widening, and she unfolded her arms, hand reaching for Emilia's. "I'm sorry," she apologised again, turning to her friend. "I don't regret doing that, but I'm sorry you're involved," she amended, eyes slightly wide. She let go of Emilia's hand again, feeling herself getting hotter and not really wanting to burn her, wringing her fingers together as she waited. For something.

Emilia frowned, echoing Lyra's movements of wringing her fingers together. "It's not your fault either," she said, watching the door intently. "You didn't even do anything wrong. It's not like you ruined anything, or put someone else in danger. I don't understand." she licked her lips, hating hearing the footsteps but nobody coming inside for minutes now. But when she saw the doorknob turn to the side, she knew they were in trouble. She grabbed Lyra's hand, hissing for a second at how hot it was but still dragging her along as she stumbled towards the one way mirror.

A burly guard stormed inside, towering over the two girls and almost reaching the ceiling with the top of his head. He put one hand on his gun, waving with his free hand for the other guard to come in. "Girls, you're coming with us." he spat, starting to unlock his gun from its holster.

Lyra watched the two guards enter, and she turned to Emilia again, pressed up against the mirror. "Make me," she answered, hissing a little at the same time. The second guard to enter lifted his gun, looking to his friend with a shrug, and pulled the trigger twice, looking at the two girls. "One of us was going to do it," he said, as explanation.

Emilia raised both hands towards the two guards and shot fireworks towards them, trying to avert them. But she knew she was done for when she heard the trigger being pulled, and seconds later she felt herself stumble to the ground.

The guard quickly ducked, not without part of his uniform catching sparks, but he dusted it off and scoffed. He turned to his companion and shrugged. "You get the girl who just tried to shoot us," he ordered, knocking on the one way mirror and giving a thumbs up to Cheyenne.
