appearance:

his hair is tousled and curly from a grown-out bowl cut, giving him cute bangs and a bit of an undercut. he has black irises with golden pupils, tan skin and pointed ears. he has an arab accent though he can't speak arabic anymore. he is thin, almost unhealthily so, and very short for his age. by the time he is 16, though, he will be figuratively twice as tall as the measly 4"11 he is now. he dons a white shirt which accentuates his slim body, simple navy shorts and wooden sandals.

accessories:

his back is covered in ugly whip scars, burn marks and anything of the liking from his time in the middle east. long cuts criss-cross his arms and lets, almost like white stripes if they weren't so mangled. he is extremely self-conscious of his body and hates how he has to wear revealing clothing because the sanctuary doesn't have anything else his size. his most prominent scar is from boiling water when it was poured down his neck. he barely has any smooth skin anymore.

personality:

caution. extreme caution. his schizophrenia was so bad at one point that he couldn't tell what were illusions are what were real. he's very sweet once you earn his trust, but it isn't given out to anyone other than his fellow level fours. he hesitates against touch, and loud noises can induce severe reactions out of him. he is extremely self-conscious of his body, but tends not to say anything in fear of being called out on his cry-baby instincts. he loves his fellow level fours, and lightly envies them for having families of their own.

element (powers):

titan morphing: malik, after creating a self-inflicted injury, can turn into a different form. he calls this his titan form, as it is seven meters tall and is very strong. when he is fully grown, the titan will be about eighteen meters tall. right now, as he is a novice at becoming a titan, his mind numbs and unless he has a clear aim in his mind before he shifts he becomes zombie-like. this will also be fixed with large amounts of practice. he can only shift once a day, otherwise, a great strain is put on his body. he can also shift partially, like just his arm or his torso. he exits his form by behind the sternum, of which he can exit himself. the excess titan body will steam away. by the time he is fully grown, he will have full control of his body and will be able to shift more than ten times a day at will.

positive: while he can't generate fire, after having been burned so many times he has grown an immunity to extreme heat. this had only happened after so many years of pain though.

negative: his blood is an inky black substance that creates a negative reaction to skin particles. it reacts like acid, and creates severe burns. it isn't harmful if ingested, and does nothing to his eyes if they come in contact.

illnesses:

schizophrenia. it used to be extreme, but after being transferred to the sanctuary, has become milder than previously. he still doesn't trust himself, though.

history:

the earliest memory he can recall was being locked away. born in [redacted], a small country in the middle east, after being beaten as an orphan he had shifted into a titan and cut down to be put under surveilance. he was treated as if he were the devil himself, waking up to be beaten senseless and then left until he woke up again. this cycle of fear and power went on until he was five years old. the stories of his childhood circled around him until he didn't know what was and wasn't real anymore. he decided for himself that he had killed his own parents, as he refused to believe that anyone could leave their son to die in such a horrible way. when he turned five years old, he was sent to california to be held in a dark, metal box. one meal a day. one cup of water a day. he wouldn't see another human until he was eight years old. he developed schizophrenia after the nightmares of his childhood crashed back down on him, and he tortured himself until he passed out from fear and exhaustion every day. he was still illiterate, not being able to speak at all. the day he turned nine, he was to be transferred to washington in another containment facility until further notice. the truck was ambushed, and he ended up killing everything around him in fear. found alone three days later in the middle of the desert by some travellers, after some discussion with the government, he was sent to sanctuary 038 and was kept separate from the other prisoners while he was taught how to read, write, speak, etc. he was also kept away in fear that he would attack those around him and get killed as a result. he was placed on level four when he was 11 years old, and has kept all of this to himself since.
