Sanctuary 001 Playroom

Sanctuary 001 Playroom is where patients can go to use their powers without limitation. It is different from the observations room - no scientists or guards are watching them, to make sure they feel welcome at the Sanctuary and have more rights. Of course, guards are always posted outside to keep them safe, but the patients are free to do whatever. Everything is indestructible, even if someone decided to fill the entire room with water. It is set up almost like a club, and they have access to snacks and drinks and various other objects to mess around with. There a few separate rooms where patients can go if they want to practice alone without any other patient watching them.

Isaiah tapped his foot on the ground, sighing as his eyes flitted over to the door marked as the entrance to the playroom. He had been waiting for Neira for what felt like ages now. They had scheduled to meet here and train with their powers; mostly due to the fact he got so easily tired using his own. Throwing up his hands in defeat and mild frustration, he made his way to one of the counters to grab a drink for himself. He placed his chin on his hand as he swirled the liquid around in the glass, staring at it mindlessly as the clock ticked by.

Neria walked into the playroom, eyes glancing around the room. Even though the name of the room seemed... immature to say the least, she had to appreciate the concept of the place. Everything being indestructible? An area to practice using abilities? Noticing Isaiah by one of the counters, she walked over and sat down on the stool nearest. “Alright? Still up for practice?” she asked, smiling.

Isaiah decided to finally down the drink he had in his glass, although he nearly choked on it as Neria silently walked in while he was distracted. Clearing his throat and setting down the glass, he raised one of his eyebrows. "Do I even need to answer that?" He questioned with a hint of a smile, eager to get started with training. He swiveled around on the stool, playing with some of the beams of light in his palm as he leaned back casually on the bar counter. "So what're we starting with first?" Isaiah questioned, keeping his eyes fixed on his photokinesis powers at work.

Neria hummed to herself in thought, unconsciously picking up a glass and dropping it through the counter. “Ah, well you seem very excited to start with your light,” she laughed, hooping to her feet and moving to the other end of the room. “I’d say... you need to learn how to defend yourself. Basics, you know, but you have your energy draining in case of if somebody goes near you. How do you feel about defense via light manipulation, is what I’m saying?” As if to demonstrate, Neria lifted a shield from the ground of fire, before sending it flying forward into the wall where it exploded into sparks.

Isaiah got up from his seat as well, watching as Neria demonstrated a defensive move. "Well, if you think it's best,"He nodded, turning to focus on sapping some of the light around since it was hard enough to summon his own in such a dark atmosphere. After a few seconds of trying, only a small shield of light was made, just enough to shield his fist. He let the light vanish away once he opened his palm and groaned with frustration. "It's no good, I can't do it as well as my offensive techniques," He complained, tucking his hands into his pockets.

“There is a reason it’s called practice,” Neria replies dryly. “You don’t need to be incredible at it, just enough to hold up a shield.” She thought for a moment, before concentrating. Carefully, she created a large amount of small sparks and floated them in the air to give some more light. Leaving them floating, she looked over Isaiah again. “If you can’t create a shield, try... can you just make yourself glow? It wouldn’t be as good as a shield, but you could blind somebody. It’d blind your allies as well, if they could see. Or glow one part of you, like your hand.”

Isaiah pursed his lips, biting back a retort on how they should focus on his more aggressive attacks. However, he knew Neria always had realistic and smart intentions behind her decisions, so he nodded. Soaking in more light, he used it on both his palms, before holding them up and aiming at a wall, with the brightest light he could create. "You might need sunglasses!" He laughed, cupping his hands so it didn't end up blinding Neria.

Neria rolled her eyes, but turned away and put a hand over her eyes to shield them. She could still see out of the corner of her eye, but that way she could tell how bright it was. The corner of her lips tilted up anyway, and she made a noise of approval. "Ah, well now since you have at least one defensive move, you can start practising your offensive ones. Or keep learning more protection, it's up to you." She knew her own pyrokinesis liked surfacing in offensive and defensive moves mainly, and light and fire were... sort of similar, so she could probably come up with moves that worked for Isaiah.

Isaiah immediately took to displaying his light daggers, throwing them onto a dartboard target into the center before turning back to Neria. "I need to work on my...third power," He said more sternly, his voice dropping lower at the last couple words, "The workers, they've been trying to drag it out of me, but it's always too hard to do... I need to practice it, before you-know-what." His eyes darkened, referring to their plan of taking over the sanctuary.

Neria hesitated only a moment before nodding. She wasn’t entirely sure what that third power even entailed, but she assumed it was the reality warping one. Reality warping... how do you even practice that? “Warping reality,” she murmured to herself in a low tone matching Isaiah’s own. “Summon things? Change them, from one to another. You need to want something to happen, be creative about it. Make something happen,” she said, tone a bit louder now. Her own power thrummed at her fingertips, though it wasn’t as outward as Isaiah’s with energy absorbing, changing density was helpful. And plus, bonuses of if he ever tried it on her - she didn’t think he would, but it was always good to have a plan Z - she could go straight through him. And probably punch him in the face.

Isaiah shrugged and scoffed. "That's not much help, but I'll try," He replied, stepping back before focusing on a spot on the ground. He held out his hands, straining to try and get the floor to warp to his will. He pursed his lips and narrowed his eyes as his hands shook. Finally, after what seemed an eternity, the floor began to warp into a sort of hole, changing at his will. He managed a weak smile in satisfaction, before collapsing onto the ground with a tired groan as the floor went back to its original state.

Neria took a step away as he fell down, nostrils flaring slightly. "Good. You are getting better, whether you're falling over after or not," she commented, holding her hand out to help him get up. "And anyway, I have no idea what your power even does. The extent on 'reality-warping' could change from person to person, and what it entails even more so," she added, tone slightly defensive as she shifted her weight. "I'll lend you some more of that, anyway."

Isaiah took Neria's hand for support as he heaved himself back up on his feet, although his shoulders sagged from grogginess. He turned to Neria, placing his hand on her shoulder staring her down with his piercing blue eyes. "It's not enough!" He snapped, before realizing his anger was bubbling up and took a shaky breath before calming his tone down, "I need more energy. Just let me borrow some from you please...And then, then we'll finally be able to deal with Thomas."

"Bloody hell, fine, once. Once," Neria sighed, leaning her head back then holding out her hand. Okay, she did immediately go back on her word to herself, but at least he asked. Plus, she really wanted to go kidnap the President. Oh, what had her life become, that was such a fun statement. Plus, he'd owe her if she gave him this. "Only a bit. I'm not about to throw up or lose all my powers because you want to be as strong as humanly possible, you can do that to everybody else."

Isaiah's blue eyes lit up for a moment, for he hadn't expected Neria to allow him to use his power on her. He took her outstretched hand and concentrated as he began to sap the energy from her. However, he kept it at a limit, respecting the certain orders to take only a bit. Once he finished, he rolled his shoulders, standing up taller and letting out a refreshed sigh. "Much better," He commented as he turned once more, but this time towards the bar. Images of the scientists, doctors and the president that had done them harm flashed through his mind, causing him to narrow his eyes and grit his teeth in sheer hatred. Holding out his palm and twisting his hand, he warped the ceiling to mirror the counter and shelves of the bar below it; as if it were upside-down.

Neria rested two fingers on the bridge of her nose, pinching slightly as she watched Isaiah use his powers, nodding with some satisfaction after. She shook her head, brushing herself off, and nodded again. "See? That's great. You just need a source to get the energy from," she commented, tilting her head to the side. "Consider yourself ready? Or want more practice?" she asked, turning to the other way and taking a few steps away to practice with her own powers. She created a whip of fire in front of her, holding it in her hand. From there, she recoiled it, feeling it solidify more in front of her, becoming a sword. She made it longer again, into a spear, then threw it like a javelin at the wall, watching it explode as soon as it hit it.

Isaiah nodded, his fingers itching to drain someone of their energy again already. It felt refreshing, satisfying, and made him feel so much stronger; although he decided it was best to keep that to himself for the time being. "Let's spar then," He decided, after watching Neria play around with her own powers, "I want to be prepared for any... obstacles in our plan."

Neria turned around, nodding. "No dirty tricks," she answered, stance shifting slightly. She nearly immediately started trying to circle Isaiah, and she rolled her shoulders. "Get some rules into play, I know what you're like. First one to tap out loses," she continued, hands behind her back and flickers of flame creeping up them. "Hand to hand combat, too, because god knows you need more practice with that."

Isaiah snorted as Neria listed off a set of strict rules, in his opinion, before getting into a fighting stance. He eyed her closely, taking note of her picnokinesis which could block his physical attacks. Unable to hold his patience any longer, he opened his palm towards her direction, letting out a short, but blinding light, hoping it would give him an opening as he dove in for a strike.

Neria ducked away from the light, moments too late, as it put black dots in her vision. She quickly lowered her density, waiting for him to hit and summoning a whip out of fire in front of her, trying to whip it in the direction of what she hoped were his legs.

Isaiah swung through open air, muttering a curse under his breath as his plan went to fail right away. However, he noticed through the corner of his eye the blazing red color of Neria's whip and quickly formed a shield of light; making good use of their earlier lesson.

Neria took a few steps back, covering her eyes as she continued moving. She blinked a few times, trying to clear the dots out of her eyes, then waited for Isaiah's next move. She planned a shield, hand in the movement to lift it up.

Isaiah mimicked her movements, pacing in a circle and watching her closely for any hints of an attack. His knuckles turned white as he gripped his light shield intensely, all the while clenching his teeth and keeping his stance. Exasperated, he used his free hand to warp the floor Neria stood on, imagining it to grow wobbly in his head. However, his concentration faltered due to his temper, and it left an opening on him as the floor merely dipped slightly. Isaiah narrowed his eyebrows, his nose scrunching in irritation because of his desperate attempt to use his power so freely.

Neria wobbled slightly when the floor dipped a bit, but regained her balance quickly and stepped closer, taking the opening to try and sweep Isaiah's legs out from underneath him. Patience was clearly something they had to work on, then, or a way to get his temper under control. She couldn't always be there to rein him in, of course.

Isaiah had assumed her balance wouldn't be all the best, so the leg sweep wasn't a move he predicted next. He fell with a thud onto his back, although he grabbed Neria's ankle, draining her energy; his adrenaline ignoring the sharp pain along his spine.

Neria let out a 'hnnph' when Isaiah grabbed her ankle, and she blinked away spots in front of her vision and a wave of dizziness so that she could use her other foot to stomp on his wrist. She tried to phase her ankle out of his grip, but thanks to his energy-draining, could barely manage to. "Not on me," she hissed a little, eyes narrowing. "I said play fair."

Isaiah hissed as Neria's ankle drove into his wrist, causing him to wrench back his hand subconsciously because of the sudden pain. He put his hands up, still having his back face-down on the ground, and smirking in the way he knew irritated Neria to the core. "Alright, I surrender," He drawled out; he was practically cornered at this point. Anyways, he was out of tricks and he felt drained despite stealing some of his opponent's energy.

Neria nodded, taking a step back and folding her arms. She inhaled slowly, making the attempt to keep her cool, and took a step back. She might have given him a hand up, but after seeing his smirk she decided not to. "Better," she stated, deciding not to bring up the fact he'd used his powers against her so she didn't start a... less planned fight.

Isaiah finally brought himself to stand up and brushed off any dirt from the floor on his clothing before glancing at the clock in the room. He frowned, knowing he had a psychiatrist appointment scheduled, even though he absolutely despised them. "Damn it, I have to go to one of those boring sessions again," He said, practically groaning out of annoyance, "I don't even care, I'll just skip it and go to one of those abandoned rooms of this sanctuary... maybe the basement. We need more planning done." His gaze scanned the room with narrowed eyes, a not entirely secretive enough area for what they wanted to discuss; there were probably hidden cameras somewhere anyway.

"We're trying to avoid suspicion," Neria argued, going over her own schedule to see if she had any appointments soon. "Skipping only attracts it. And if you're being watched constantly-- well, watched more, then we won't be able to actually kick it off." He had a point, though; they did need more planning, especially out of range of the guards or scientists. "You, go to your appointment. I'll meet you after in the basement. After."

Isaiah huffed as if he were a child, crossing his arms with defiance. Yet, he quickly shrugged it off and sighed. "Alright, fine," he gave in with a frown, "But I'm only going because I trust your judgment. I'm still not cooperating with the psychoanalyzing Karens."
