appearance. mara has lightly tanned skin with brown-blonde hair that she often cuts or styles in different ways. she has round, dark cocoa brown eyes and slightly arched eyebrows. she has high cheekbones and a slightly turned-up nose, and full lips with a coral tint. her hair is currently blonde, falling loosely around her face, and has a purple streak going through it. lean and toned, mara has long nails and rough hands.

accessories/scars. mara has tattoos of cracks up and down her forearms, reaching down to her wrists and up to her elbow. they get thicker just by the joint, and form a thick band. at her wrists, they disperse.
she has a gold necklace with rubies hanging off it, given to her by her godmother before she was born - along with a dagger that has gold engravings and a red, metallic hilt.
she has a curved cut on her shoulder, which now looks like a raised bump in the shape of a thin crescent moon. it goes around the top of her shoulder in a semi-circle shape.

powers.
positive - vibrokinesis. she can create and manipulate vibrations. she can also absorb them, though it takes a lot of effort. when focused, she can make these vibrations into a shield or large wave. she can project concussive waves, and target them with incredible accuracy. she can move objects with the waves and levitate them. she can also use shockwaves to propel herself into the air or cushion falls. however, her powers are connected to her heart rate, so if her heart rate increases she can lose control of them.
element - terrakinesis. she can raise (and push down) earth from the ground, including rocks and soil. this means she can create pillars of it. she can style this earth into her own designs, as well. she can also sense earthquakes and other earth-related disasters before they happen
negative - earthquake generation. she can cause vibrations into the ground to create earthquakes, however, if she does this, depending on how big the earthquake is she can get severe bruising or even break bones along with the ground. these earthquakes can lead to tsunamis as well if they're strong enough and near water.

personality. mara has a lot of commitment issues. she doesn't like staying in one place for long. outgoing and confident, mara acts like she owns the room. sporty, she doesn't usually get close to people. she has some trust issues, and some slight anger issues at times. when mara does get mad, she channels that anger into fighting and punching things, or just blowing things up. when relaxing, she enjoys tinkering with tech or hacking into things. unlike a lot of other earth elements, she prefers destruction over creation, and for some reason hates the greenhouse just for the stereotypes against others who manipulate the earth.

past. maralah was born in the usa, with chinese blood on her father's side and russian and american blood on her mother's side. she never met her grandmother, but knew she'd been married before she had her mother, and that her first daughter died six years before maralah was born. when she was still a baby, her parents left her at an orphanage and she never saw them again after that. she just had a bag with her belongings in. as she grew, she kept her belongings safe, as well as adding more to the bag as she got them. mara ended up switching between homes a lot, never managing to stay in one for more than five months. then, when she was fourteen, her aunt found her. she took her in and begun teaching how to hack and fight, for reasons mara had no idea. she began collecting books. after a year of living with her aunt, there was an earthquake. mara rushed out of the house, her aunt in the middle of shopping a few miles away, but was caught by a falling telephone pole. it cut her shoulder, and as she pushed it off she fell over when a huge earthquake split part of the ground open. the earthquake had been caused by a chemical explosion, and dust from that got into her cut. for a couple of weeks, her powers developed. she discovered that when she had a nightmare and woke up with the windows exploding. over the next few months, she started trying to train her powers. when the men from the sanctuary showed up at her aunt's door, she climbed out the window and ran away. for the next six months, mara stayed hidden as well as she could. she deleted her internet footprint, hid her tracks, but it didn't help. when they found her again, luckily she'd been training herself. she fought them off and took off again, but was immediately stopped and brought into the sanctuary with only the two possessions on her - her necklace and the dagger. while the dagger was taken away, she always kept the necklace and vowed to herself she would get the dagger back someday for her grandmother. a few months after she was brought in, the sanctuary wanted to find out her negative power. when she accidentally created an earthquake and her arm snapped with it.
