appearance. layla is a dark-skinned girl with curly black hair that she sometimes takes time out of her day to elaborately braid. she has deep brown eyes that she always hated, and before she came to the sanctuary she always wore blue contacts. layla is fairly tall, standing at about five feet six inches, and she is quite underweight.
Her normal style is leather jackets and other "cool" looks, as considered by her.
accessories and scars. layla's skin is flawless, with no scratches except for a few barely visible ones from her childhood scattered on her arms and legs. her normal style is leather jackets and a collection of multi colored headbands that she wears on a daily basis. most would call her overdressed for being in the place they are, but she doesn't really care.

personality. layla is extremely manipulative. she can easily cover up any lie, and has a reassuring voice to top it all off. some would say she doesn't even have a conscience because of how good she lies, and how she tries to bring herself to believe her own lies. sometimes she fails to think things through, resulting in a few bumps and bruises along the way. she can go a bit too far in the other direction at times as well, so if you're friends with layla be prepared for lots of offensive comments. she rarely means what she says, only puts into words how she is feeling that moment. as a final note and public warning, eye rolls are an expected comeback to anything she doesn't agree with in the slightest.

powers.
sphaerakinesis. layla can create spherical objects as well as manipulate and reshape existing ones. she can embed her gravity in the spheres to make them more like bubbles that explode when coming into contact with something or someone. when she comes into contact with a big enough sphere, she can levitate it for a short period of time and use it as a form of matter surfing in which she can ride it through walls and get to different places quicker. the mass of spheres she herself can create is still quite limited.
gravitokinesis. layla can create, shape, and manipulate gravity, which is limited unless she combines it with her sphere manipulation. she can make the gravity around her heavy or light, and can even release her own control so she floats. she can also change the gravity simply around one object to flatten it, stretch it out, or make it implode. she can also generate force fields for short periods of time that, when anyone comes near it, it shoots them back roughly.
freerunning. layla can scale walls by crawling or running through the use of decreasing gravity. it is very hard to control how far she can go and keep herself up. if she gets enough momentum, she can run at most three meters up a wall. however, it is extremely hard to get down without hurting herself, so she has to carefully interweave her gravitokinesis around her to float her gently back down to the ground.

past. layla was born in wales to two high school sweethearts. she had a pretty normal life as a kid, other than moving around a lot. she made sure that in every school she went she made a name for herself. once her father got relocated back to wales, she was in high school, and she got the opportunity to go to spain for three weeks in her language class. she went on the wrong plane and ended up in washington d.c., where she met a strange man who refused to give her his name. he told her about the repopulation project and how they needed more subjects to help move the project further. she was utterly freaked out and immediately got back on the next plane home. joel, her father, was later given a job opportunity to help with the exact project a strange man told her about. layla and her family moved to maryland and attended a local high school until she was sixteen. one day her father seemed to have some sort of mania episode while tiana wasn't home, and he threw layla into the attic and locked her up there. she was absolutely frightened, and when the door unlocked she did not expect to see the same strange man she had met about a year ago. he shoved her into handcuffs and brought her to the sanctuary, where she found out that she had powers. she'd had them all her life, and she never knew. it was a shock at first, and after the man killed her father for hiding her all these years, she was even more confused. eventually, she was able to move on from the past and recreate the queen bee status that she had in school throughout her life.
