personality. shirase is usually calm and collected. she's very laid-back, but also quite sassy when people get on her nerves, or if they seem to not be as logical as her. despite her ability to talk to people through telepathy, she often chooses not to use it anyways and is just naturally quiet most of the time. she tends to favor observing over random outbursts of her opinions. she's pretty mature but will stick up for her friends if need be. shirase likes to sometimes show her playful side and mess with people using her telepathy. adding onto this side of her, she usually in secret loves getting attention and having friends around her despite her attitude of being done with people. 

> positive - telepathy, the power to communicate through the mind and hear people's minds as well. she's strong with this power since it is her to communicate because of her being mute. 

> elemental - cryokinesis, the power to create and manipulate ice, snow, and the cold.

> negative - time manipulation, the power to cause time to speed up or slow down. it's harder to do this on more than one person. it is easier on objects when smaller, but harder on more than one object or larger ones.

history. shirase's family moved from japan to america when she was at a young age. starting out school was a bit troublesome at first, and she always had a problem fitting in but eventually over the years everything got more familiar to her. she was always a bit of a quiet child when growing up though; which grew from shyness to overall just not wanting to talk with other people. during high school, shirase grew more bitter as a teenager. although she enjoyed her education, she hated the schooling system, especially all the social statuses going on among her peers. at home wasn't any better, as her parents were traditional, strict and wealthy people who put a lot of pressure on shirase to get into a very prestigious college. being the only child, they were a bit, well, obsessed and over-protective over her. one day, after finally getting her driver's license from begging her parents for her 18th birthday, she ended up in a car crash due to allowing one of her unruly friends drive. her parents were distressed and payed a lot of money for her, but shirase was still in a coma for a while. desperate for her not to miss school and her future to plummet, her father made a sketchy deal with one of the doctors about a drug that could help. this doctor worked with the sanctuary and contained what gave each patient a supernatural power. once injected, shirase woke up a few days later with new supernatural abilities, but her ability to speak was gone due to the side affect. after the doctor convinced her parents they needed to take her to a mental institute since she seemed to wake up deranged, shirase was moved to the sanctuary and still hasn't revealed to the workers she can communicate through her telepathy.
